The towns of East Texas offer a wide variety of places to see and things to do. The pace of life here is a little more relaxed and the quality of life is highly desireable, particularly for families from larger metro areas who are fatigued by high taxes, high association fees and seemingly endless traffic problems. Interstate 20 and Highway 49 connect the towns around Garden Valley, making it easy to get where you want to go whenever you want to go. Lindale

Lindale is one of the fastest growing communities in East Texas and is experiencing unprecedented growth. This can be attributed largely to excellent schools, a strategic interstate location and that “hometown” feeling everyone is searching for.
Lindale is located in the rolling hills of beautiful northeast Texas just 13 miles northwest of Tyler in northern Smith County (population approaching 250,000). Lindale is only minutes from shopping, entertainment and cultural pursuits.
The town is also home to the Texas Rose Horse Park that hosts events bringing in competitors from all over the nation. The school district in Lindale consistently receives high marks as well as state and national recognition for academic, vocational, athletic and fine arts programs.

Tyler

Located 95 miles east of Dallas, Tyler is the advanced manufacturing, health-care and retail center of East Texas, as well as Texas’ first Certified Retirement City. The city has an impressive youth recreation program, ballet, symphony orchestra, art museums and is also home to several colleges, including the University of Texas-Tyler.

As a regional educational and technology center, Tyler is the host for more than 20,000 higher education students, a College of Engineering and a University Health Science Center, two regional billion-dollar hospital systems and a variety of technology startups.

Canton​
Once a month this quaint, peaceful, East Texas Main Street City of 3,581 becomes the seventh largest city in Texas when up to 400,000 shoppers visit World Famous First Monday Trade Days – the oldest, largest, continuously operating outdoor market in the United States, only 60 miles east of Dallas on Interstate Highway 20.

Despite its name, First Monday isn’t held on the first Monday of the month. Shopping days are on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday preceding the first Monday of every month, rain or shine, holiday or not with shopping areas that cover almost 400 acres and space for 7,000 vendors in five locations around the city. People say that if you can’t find it in Canton, it probably doesn’t exist!

But Canton is much more than the four-days-a-month shopping extravaganza. As the county seat of Van Zandt County and a Texas Main Street City, the town bustles with shopping, services, events and activity all the time. Canton has dozens of restaurants, two shopping centers, one of the newest resorts in Texas, an awesome waterpark, the longest zip-line course in Texas, two golf courses, two fishing lakes, multiple parks and walking trails, over 2,000 RV sites, historical sites, a museum, a 19th century town square with unique shops and restaurants, and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.
